Abstract
This article analyzes and examines the place of wisdom and reason in
Ferdowsi's Shahnameh. In Shahnameh, wisdom is depicted as a guiding and
determining force in the fate of humans and the fate of the heroic world. Wisdom not
only plays a key role in the individual and social decisions of the characters in
Shahnameh, but also plays a role in the balance between power, justice, and morality.
Ferdowsi uses wisdom as the main criterion for distinguishing between right and
wrong, good and evil, and power and corruption. This article analyzes the various
cases in which wisdom is used in the stories of Shahnameh and examines its role in
the formation of the national and moral identity of Iranians. The aim of this research
is to clarify the importance of wisdom in the moral and social structure of Shahnameh
and how Ferdowsi, by emphasizing wisdom, not only paid attention to individual
education and development, but also addressed the universal concept of justice and
wisdom. In the Shahnameh, Ferdowsi uses wisdom as a higher power and a criterion
for guiding humans towards correct and wise decisions. Wisdom in the Shahnameh
is not only an intellectual tool, but also a symbol of moral and social power that many
characters in the Shahnameh, especially kings and heroes, rely on at different times
in their lives.
