Abstract
Literature and its types are always influenced by the political and social conditions
of the author's era. Historical novels, as one of the new literary types that emerged in the
Constitutional Era, although they apparently narrate historical stories of Iran's past, by
delving into the stories, the author's thoughts and goals and the living conditions of his
era can be found in the underlying and interpretive layer of these works. The National
Front Party is also one of the parties that played a very extensive role in the political and
social arena under the leadership of Mossadegh between 1942 and 1943. Therefore, many
writers have tended towards this party and have tried to publish and promote the views
and ideas of this front in their works; therefore, it seems necessary to examine and analyze
the political and social conditions and the role of parties in historical novels of the
mentioned period. The present study was conducted using a descriptive and analytical
method and using library resources. The results show that historical novels between 1942
and 1943 are influenced by the views of the National Front. Therefore, national
independence, popularism, the theory of defeat, and the connection of the clergy with the
uprising of the National Front are among the most important common concepts between
the National Front and historical novels, which the writers have reflected in various places
in their works.
Keywords: National Front, historical novel, defeat theory, 1953 coup, national
